What a bumpy ride it's been.

Here we are, exactly 454 days since Ontario went into lockdown due to COVID-19.

There have been ups and downs as we all know - and due to restrictions in Toronto, one of Canada's hardest hit 'hot spots', family photographers (or 'retail photographers' as the government decided to call us) haven't been legally allowed to work since NOVEMBER 2020. 

That's 6 months, friends.

In the reopening plan announced early June, we STILL wouldn't be allowed to work until Phase 2. Unsure of what the government thinks we 'retail photographers' actually DO during a family portrait session, we lobbied as an industry, and got our outdoor services moved into Phase 1. This was announced Monday. I'm THRILLED that I'm allowed to offer family photography services again starting tomorrow!

I could say I'm dusting off my camera to reopen this weekend, but the truth is, I've been capturing images all along - my kids, life, birds (I'm becoming a 'bird-nerd'!). So there is no dust. 

PLUS, anyone who is familiar with my portrait services knows rocking up in the local park for a portrait session with 2-days notice isn't my style. Sudden opening doesn't allow for the careful planning and preparation, dreaming and design time I build into every portrait client experience. 

What is DOES mean, is that I'm opening the remainder of my available summer weekends for the families that would like to grab my last available Portrait Session dates before we waitlist!
