If you know me personally, you know I'm naturally a quieter person with a soft voice. When I shoot a family portrait session and work with clients, my most confident self comes out because I'm doing what I love and what I'm good at - but outside of that, I'm.. well... quiet. During this time of badly-needed global upheaval and introspection into racial injustice, I've remained fairly quiet because that's who I am. But my WTAF-rage at the murder of George, Ahmaud, Breonna and the countless others before them is real. My listening, digesting and learning is real. My realization at how little I know about the lived experience of POC is real. My feeling of helplessness is also real. I know there are things I can do on my own personal level, and as a lone white woman, but it just doesn't feel like enough. I promise to continue forward with open ears, mind and heart.
For now, I would like to share just a handful of the stunning POC I've had the honour to photograph over the years. Because Black Lives are Beautiful. Black Lives Matter.
